Problems with Ride Command.
1. Screen is stuck in Dark mode. It will not let me select Auto.
2. Can not get Ride Command to 'Authorize' my Xpedition. It tries to confirm location and always Times out.
3. I can not log into my Ride Command. Message states no network connection and 'Authorization Fails' instantly when trying to connect.

I've spent hours on these without any luck.

Has anyone else had these issues.

UPDATE:
I talked to tech support at Polaris. To get Ride Command to connect /sync your account. These instructions are for using an Android phone
  1. Turn WiFi off.
  2. Make sure Airplane mode is OFF.
  3. Under Mobile Hotspot and Tethering
    1. Turn on Mobile Hotspot
    2. Turn on Bluetooth tethering
The in the General menu select your Account and enter in your email address and password for Ride Command account.

I could not find this ANYWHERE in the Owner's Manual.

Supposedly Polaris Tech support is working on this. I have a wait and see attitude if they will contact me again.

UPDATE #2
Our Xpedition went back to the dealer today. They applied the Day/Night fix developed for the Ranger. This fix required removing the Xpedition Ride Command, installing it into a Ranger, applying the software fix, removing the Ride Command from the Ranger and reinstalling it back into our Xpedition. I have a wait and see how this fix works out.

I'm just lurking here for now, but I'm planning on buying an ADV2 after the first of the year. I have an xd1500, and the only way I can get it out of dark mode is to have either the headlights or running lights on. Might try that.

Tried that. Nope, no change.

Most issues with the ride command I’ve been able to resolve by reinstalling the latest update. Even if it’s already on the latest software.
I keep a thumb drive with the updates on it on my keys so I can help others as well
The software is current and I've also reloaded it. Tech support is aware of the 'stuck in Dark Mode' issue. The have a workaround for the Rangers, but nothing for the XPedition. Supposedly there is a firmware fix being worked on. No date given.

Odd, since it’s the exact same Ride Comand unit in all Polaris models that have it. The software updates are all the same as well. Until the latest update, the info screen on the Xpedition Ride Command said “Polaris General. Now it just says “202X Polaris”

If you have the thumb drive with the update on it, you could try the recovery mode. If that doesn’t fix it it’s possible it’ll just need the Headunit replaced.

This is a known issue with the Expedition. The Ranger fix won't work because the Xpedition headlight switch does not have a blackout mode. Which is required for the workaround.

Tech support contacted me today
today. Because the fix requires the blackout mode their recommendation it to take it my dealer. The dealer has to remove my Ride Command and install it into a ranger. They will then apply the fix, remove it and reinstall it in my Xpedition That seems kinda M&M to me. I'll contact my dealer and see what their next move is.

I’m just curious why they need a workaround.
It’s not a common issue on the Xpeditions. Of the 30+ Xpeditions I personally know the owners of, none have had that particular problem. And while a couple people here on the forum have had it, it appears to be a rare occurrence. If I recall correctly, the ones that had it here, the dealers replaced the headunit.

Yea, not sure what the dealer wants to do for now.

I wish they would change it so that we do not have to use bluetooth tethering to sync. Just make Ride Command wifi capable.... That way, I can use my phone's hotspot, or better yet, use our Starlink Mini.

On our 2021 RZR XP Pro 4 was able to use WiFi for syncing. Then sometime in 2023 that option disappeared. From then on it was a FRPITA to sync.

Polaris couldn't get wifi chips when the Xpedition came out two years ago. You have always had to connect via bluetooth tethering. I assume they got cheap and just decided to leave the wifi chip out permanently.

Mine went down multiple times. Edge, where I got my ride had to clear then.do a reset with their chip program multiple times until it finally (nock on my dash board) is going fine now… keep going with the guys you got your buggy from. Hopefully they can help you too

Our Xpedition goes back to the dealer this Tuesday. Hoping for the best, but dealings with Polaris before has always been a struggle.

Any update with the ride command in night mode and can't change to auto??
The dealer did fix the stuck in Night mode issue. They did it by removing my Ride Command, installing it in a Ranger, applying the software/firmware fix and then reinstalling back into our Xpedition.

It appears that the Ranger has some type of stealth mode concerning the headlight switch that the Xepdotion doesn't have and that that mode is required to apply the fix.

It seems pretty MM to me, but it works...
