DRT has come out with a swing out rear Tire carrier for the Xpedition that will hold up to a 35" spare tire . Mie shipped yesterday . They have not placed it on their web site yet so you have to call to order . You can see it in this video at the 4:17 min mark .

Has anyone installed this tire carrier on a Xpedition with a AJK rear bumper ?
I doubt it . They just came out with this and don't even have it on their web page yet . I saw the video and called them to see if they were going to be going to market with them in Nov and they said yes that the first batch would be in and shipping mid Dec . So I pre ordered on the phone . I got mine last Wed. Doubt if only a few have been put on yet and doubt even more that they had that bumper .

They must have just put it up in the last couple of days . As of last Thurs it was not up yet .

With that and a spare mounted its gonna make you be doing wheelies and/or flip backwards when going up steep inclines.
I don't carry a spare much any more but if I do I just strap it down on top of the Packouts in my bed
Yeah most likely with stock springs . But once I have it on I'm going to scale the xpedition . Total weight , front and rear weight with my wife , tools and basically totally loaded .. Then the shocks and springs go to SDI for single rate springs and revalving plus enlarged resivoirs . It will be just fine .

I carry about 300 lbs of stuff with me. I run Schmidty springs. I don't think springs are gonna help you. Its the extra weight on the tail end of the machine. I also have a Turbo R and have had a XP Turbo. Even with a 150 lbs of tools in the rear (and a winch and bumper on front for counter balance) they are rear heavy and will flip on steep inclines. I can only imagine what a tire stuck on the back will do.

Good luck and Merry Christmas.

I don't carry 300 lbs in the back . My tools are under the rear seat and just a couple small pack outs in the rear . On a two door you would probably be right . But on a 4 door I'd bet 95% of the total vehicle weight is in front of the rear tire centerline . I seriosly doubt 200lbs going to do wheelies . Maybe if the rear was 3 or 4 ft from the centerline of the rear wheel . Super ATV has a rear tire rack on their 6 part build and video of it at moab climbing steep rocks and no wheelies . And their rack looks heavier and with a 35" tire . I have 33's .

You have got to be kidding $1,225.00 USD for a tire carrier? That's friggin' ridiculous! But you do get free shipping! Really?
