I would like to install a more robust AGM battery in place of the small stock flooded lead acid battery. It appears as though a type 86 automotive battery will fit just fine. In fact, Polaris has a bolt in bracket installed on the mounting tray to skinny it up to the stock battery size. If you remove the plate, it seems as though it was made for a larger battery such as a type 86 size. The only issue I see is that most automotive batteries I have checked into have the positive post on the left, which is opposite of the Polaris small stock battery. Has anyone installed a large automotive battery as a replacement? If so, what did you use and what modifications did you have to make? No, I do not want to install a dual battery system...just sayin'.

Hello, I would love to go your route in the future, but for now went with an Interstate battery. Recently had a bad battery after 13 months of ownership. Polaris Tourque warranty would not replace it. Anyway, if I went with Polaris dealer replacement, they would only warranty it for 60-90 days. Not sure why on that part, but I have owned numerous Polaris machines and all their batteries suck. So, I went with a aftermarket Interstate battery for a warranty of 2/5 years. Would have went for an Optima, but couldn't nail down the right replacement.

What was the model number of the Interstate battery you used? Did the terminals line up for you? Thanks.

After taking my old battery there, they replaced it with part # MT-26. Yes the terminals were correct. Came standard with 2 year warranty, and a 5 year pro-rated warranty. Although Polaris had the same battery and cheaper, they would not warranty it for longer than 30 days (if I remember what they told me).

I used a yellow top agm battery and the thumper fab optima mounting bracket.....I used the D35 model battery....remove the stock battery and mounting then the TF optima mount will fit right in there....requires some drilling but works great
