I've had my Starlink mini for over 6 months. I love it. I use it in my RV and truck. When I use it in my truck I power it with a small battery pack. The battery pack is then plugged into a 12v "cigarette" outlet with a USB C adapter. The 12v power going into the battery pack keeps it charged and when I turn off the vehicle the Starlink Mini stays powered by the battery pack for up to 3 hours. When I return to my vehicle, I can start it, go and not have to wait for the Starlink Mini to power on. I tried the same setup in my Xpedition. I used the 12v "cigarette" plug under the console lid. Long story short...it blew the 10 amp accessory fuse which is under the console. I guess I need to wire directly into the battery but I want the 12v to the power bank to be switched hot (with the ignition). Any thoughts on how to remedy this situation?

There are several ways to do accomplish that, you can use a relay to switch on/off the power to the Starlink when the ignition is in the on position
Or use a PRO8 switch panel from RLB motorsports, that will allow you to do the same thing but with more accessory connections.

I wouldn't think it would draw 10 amps. I am also wanting to install this can you tell me how you mounted it ? Can you use the positive / negative post on the buss bar maybe ?

I don't have the "Mini" Starlink, however when I do camp, I take along my jackery solar generator and plug it directly into that with no issues.

Tried out the Starlink Mini on my XP5 today, and it worked great.

I keep a Jackery 300 and the Mini in the bed under a Rotokap — we call that area the trunk. The Mini was sitting on top of a gear bag back there. Not tied down... just sitting on top.

We did a 4-hour ride and used only 30% of the Jackery. On the drive home, I plugged the Jackery into the truck, and it charged back up to 95%. For most of the local trails are 30 minutes to 1.5 hours away, the Jackery should be fully charged by the time we get to our next ride.

Today's trail was Escalante Canyon — about a 4-hour loop. I checked speeds with the Starlink app and was surprised to see 267 Mbps down. I thought the Mini capped at 100 Mbps.

Having internet the whole time was awesome. My wife was posting photos and chatting with her friend from the trail.

Total game changer.

Starlink mini on top of Rhino roof rack for a year or so. Couldnt be happier with functionality.. work well to 250 feet or so for handheld device. Modified mount to reduce damage to dish from low hanging branches. Wiring down above liner, through rear pillar to above/near skid plate and up through center console to lighter plug inside console (wanted engine running to receive power). Use Jackery like portable power station (1024 watt rating) when engine not running (parked, or at campsite with toy hauler). Needs direct line of sight from mini to open sky (some tree obstructions ok). No problem with 10 amp fuse ... can't remember if I may have put in a very very slightly larger fuse for a previous project need to double check i tend not to stress any circuit beyond 75% capacity. Also have both acc and engine on usb ports in cab from previous project. Fyi, im currently installing a DC to DC converter to charge the power station via the solar ports while I'm moving in the X. Installed 4 gage wire/fuse/40 amp/breaker switch to bed area of adv 5. The mini dish/router likes more current to improve reliability/availability depending on physical proximity constraints. Will be testing workability after this Fridays FedEx delivery of DC to DC. In the process of installing 2048 watt power station and additional solar panel on RV / TOY Hauler using like architecture for either solar or DC using my truck's alt / battery for DC to DC (50 amp). [Now that I understand the stock battery wiring fuse/isolation architecture I may not be concerned about running down the X's battery because of excessive accessory battery use]

Did I say this product is Awesome? Last night, it was mounted to the inside of the SUV sunroof. Today, it will be mounted on the roof of the truck, then I'll move it to the roof of my XP5. The combination of the Starlink Mini and this mounting system, it an absolute game changer.... it's AWESOME!!!

have you tried attaching it to the roof of an xpedition using any mount?

I bought 12 of the metal stick on disc's. 8 for the two aluminum Fords and 4 for the XP5. I have not "installed" them yet.

Hoping to get that done this weekend.
