Is this engine temp normal?

On my last trail ride in the desert here is AZ I noticed that the engine temp was running in the 202 to 205 degrees. I seem to remember engine temp to usually run between 178 to 188 under the same conditions. The outside temp was 77 degrees and basically a flat non technical trail. What struck me as odd was when I turned on the AC the temp immediately dropped back to the 180 degree range and stayed there while the AC was on. Is this temp swing normal when riding and then decreasing when the AC is turned on?

same on my 2024. That's the same range for my 2016 ranger also.

You don’t need to worry until it gets above 230°. 205° is the normal cooling fan kickon if you’re not running a/c

The 205 temp isn't bad at all. Looks like yours is an ADV Northstar model.
Turn on the AC and the temp will drop to 180 and stay there.
Learned that very early on with my 2026. Very nice!

Same here, noticed that on our Kanab trip. Running the AC, the temp stays about 180° .
