Hi all! Been a long time browser of the forum and just picked up my new 2025 ADV 5 Northstar two weeks ago so figured it was time to join.

Still breaking everything in but loving the rig so far. I also can’t leave anything stock so I’ve already made some upgrades with more coming soon!

Appreciate all the info available here - funny story after reading a thread I ordered a replacement brake pressure switch before I even picked up the machine and now less than 7 hours in I’ve already had to use it! lol

Cheers

What's the story with the switch? I had my machine throw an error, but it stopped and I haven't seen it in more than 8 hrs of operation.

Also...

I couldn't leave mine along either...<grin> You can't see the antennas, but I added a Midland GMRS radio and a Starlink Mini onto the rack. RAM cupholder mounts for my iPhone and Garmin gps/sat comm and a gun rack. Done for now.

Now if we just had some snow here in the valley...

Thanks for the welcome all!

@AKJDMcC1964 - great looking rig and sweet tracks! From what I've read, the factory switch is problematic and throws the "release brake pedal" error even if the brakes aren't being pressed. Don't recall which thread I read it on here, but seems to be pretty common. Grabbed a $30 aftermarket switch from Amazon, replaced, and the good to go.

Does the switch just spin out with no fluid loss?
It’ll lose a little fluid. If you pull one of the front calipers after installing the switch and compress the caliper piston it will push the bubble back into the reservoir, rather than needing to bleed it clear down the line.

Nice...Was thinking it would be good to know this when in the field but i suppose jumpering it would be the easiest to get back home

Jumpering it would work to get it started if the brake switch fails. You’d just need to remove the jumper after starting it, or it’ll throw the “release brake” code. One of the ECU tunes, I think Aftermarket Assassins, would allow it to start in neutral (not in park) without pressing the brake.
If it’s throwing the “release brake” code, without you pressing the brake, you can do the reverse to get it back home. Start the machine and then unplug the brake switch to drive it.
