I just finished the installation of my UHF/VHF/GMRS radio. This is a fully FCC licensed radio, an FCC ID has been assigned to it. This radio works for the frequencies the group we ride with uses. I don't like hacking up a new vehicle. The mount I used for the radio only required 4 small screws be to secure it. I ran the antenna coax through the passenger side A-Pillar as well as the speaker wire for the overhead speaker. The Midland MNO antenna has 19 feet of coax. So the cable ran from the center of the dash to the passenger A-Pillar, up through the A-Pillar, across the top of windshield, across the left driver's side to the top of the rear passenger's door. The PL-159 connector unscrews from the cable. That made it much easier to run the cable through the A-Pillar. I used 1/4-inch drip hose to chase these wires down through the A-Pillar.

The AnyTone radio can be programmed using the Chirp programming software. Chirp is a free program. But it has limited Settings functionality. AnyTone also provides their own programming software that offers full programming of the radios setting.

I haven't done any antenna tuning. I'm getting an SWR of 1.5 and Power out of about 22 watts. Fairly good for a radio with a 25 watt rating. The SWR falls into the safe zone, so most likely I won't do any antenna tuning.
