I saved this post until I received my new X, I find the heat coming up thru is excessive. How did you get the shift knob of the shaft to install this boot. Thank You in advance

There's a screw on the underside on the front of the knob.Then the top will come off exposing the screw to take it off.The rubber around the shift gate pulls out to tuck it in.
